American Beauty director Sam Mendes has directed the past two Bond films but wasn't interested in making a third, saying he thinks it's time for someone else to take the helm after the slightly underwhelming Spectre.
Now according to bookies' odds, it looks like that someone will be Christopher Nolan. With the Dark Knight trilogy, Inception and Dunkirk under his belt among some other classics, he's clearly a man who knows how to make a blockbuster.Nolan looks to be the top pick by other bookies too, as paddy power currently prices the director at 7/4 on the back of Dunkirk.
"We make Christopher Nolan the 7/4 favourite to direct the next Bond movie," said Lee Price of Paddy Power. "Fresh from breaking ground with arguably his finest ever directorial work, of course Nolan's next step would be into the can't-really-get-it-wrong franchise of Bond.
"Then again, perhaps the Inception director has just planted the idea in our brain, and we're all part of his plan to get the gig."
As Daniel Craig's Bond films have looked to be more experimental, delving into 007's past, Nolan could be an awesome choice for the director's chair.
