While the first two installments of the Terminator film series are widely regarded as two of the greatest science-fiction films ever produced, the franchise as a whole has resulted in more critically lambasted features than hits. Terminator Salvation may have been one of the more unique efforts to revive the franchise – having been set during the post-apocalyptic war between humans and machines – but the film failed to resonate with audiences and critics alike. In an interview on Happy Sad Confused, Christian Bale reflected on his time working on Terminator Salvation and his infamous on-set tirade.
Bale revealed that he initially turned down the role of John Connor three times and commented on the ‘unfortunate series of events’ than unfolded throughout the making of the film:
